NFL Full Field Projection : Washington Commanders
Lightwave International delivered a historic laser spectacle on November 2, 2025, at Northwest Stadium, transforming the Washington Commanders’ Sunday Night Football halftime ceremony into an unforgettable tribute as the franchise officially retired Hall of Famer Art Monk’s legendary No. 81 jersey during their matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.
A large array of our Lightwave Prism Series 60W RGB lasers projected razor-sharp, extremely bright images directly onto the field, honoring Monk’s Hall of Fame career with vibrant graphics, dynamic beams, and synchronized visuals that filled the entire stadium bowl. The goal was crystal-clear: deliver maximum brightness and rock-solid performance under NFL spotlight conditions—with zero detectable flicker.
In modern laser shows, flicker is simply not acceptable. Our Prism Series technology ensures flawless, high-frame-rate output that stands up to the demands of live sports production, giving broadcast and in-person fans a cinematic experience that elevates the moment without distraction.
The custom-programmed show integrated perfectly with the emotional jersey retirement ceremony, amplifying the burgundy-and-gold pride for a packed crowd and creating a lasting visual legacy for one of Washington’s all-time greats. The event drew widespread acclaim as a highlight of the season, with fans and social media buzzing about the striking laser show that made the night truly special.

ALL of the Image, NONE of the Flicker
In the past, lasers offered one of the only viable options for projection onto large surfaces such as turf in stadiums or ice in arenas. But with this came marginal brightness and flickering images. Still, it was an exciting offering that wowed audiences in that era. Today, we have the laser power and the experience to completely eliminate all flicker and to offer brightness that cannot be matched by video or any other projection medium. Do not accept standards that were set 20-30 years ago: demand bright neon-like projections with no flicker. Demand Lightwave!
